Here are the minutes from the September FOAM meeting held at Flying Barrel on Monday September 8th:

We had a toast for the beer critic & author Michael Jackson who died the week before. Here's a link from TIME Magazine:

Eric Kelchin contributed some Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout & we all drank in his memory.

Edgar will be stepping down as President of FOAM, and Dave Justice will take his place.

FOAM members made a good showing in the beer competition at the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. Perhaps someone could post more details.

MASHOUT was a big success, although only about half a dozen FOAM members attended. Thanks to Wild Goose Brewery & Brewer's Alley who contributed beer to the event!

Next Happy Hour will be this Thursday, Sep 20 at Barley & Hops 5 PM or thereabouts. I wonder if Barley & Hops will have beer at the Schifferstadt Oktoberfest this time?

FOAMSTOCK will be Saturday, Sep 22 starting at 2 PM at Sarah & Wayne Hournbuckle's property at 9952 Kelly Road, Walkersville. Bring a side dish & beer & your tent.

The Frederick Oktoberfest is Sep 29 & 30 at the Frederick Fairgrounds. Darryl is looking for any volunteers to help pour beer there. Please contact him if you're interested.

The Schifferstadt Oktoberfest is Oct 20 & 21. I will do a brewing demo on (probably) Sunday. Probably an Alt Beer. We still need to find someone to brew for the other day. When I brewed there last year, Barley & Hops sent me over a couple of free pints of beer, so there's an incentive!

Next FOAM cup will be the November Meeting, and the category is Belgian Strong Ale.
