Here are the minutes from the September FOAM meeting held on Tuesday 18th at Travelin' Dave's house:

Treasurer's Report: We have $2072.67. Some cash will be needed to pay for some of the food at FOAMSTOCK this weekend.

Membership: We've got 74 paid members.

We need to come up with some thing to give new members:
Suggestions were:
1) Tasting cup w/ handle (could be expensive)
2) Titanium keychain bottle openers
3) Bag of hops
4) Most likely: A set of coasters w/ FOAM logo on them. We'd probably have to get 1000 printed up & could give a dozen to each member.


Next Happy Hour will be this Thursday, Sep 20 at Barley & Hops 5 PM or thereabouts.

October Happy Hour will be Thursday October 18 at Bushwallers

FOAMSTOCK will be this Saturday, Sep 22 starting at 2 PM at Sarah & Wayne Hournbuckle's property in Walkersville. Bring a side dish & beer & your tent.

Dave Justice will look into the possibility of getting a 5 gallon Corny keg of something from Brewers Alley for FOAMSTOCK. I could pick it up on Saturday.

The Frederick Oktoberfest is Sep 29 & 30. Darryl is looking for any volunteers to help pour beer there.

The Schifferstadt Oktoberfest is Oct 20 & 21. I will do a brewing demo on (probably) Sunday. Probably an Alt Beer. We still need to find someone to brew for the other day.

Jason Lamb had news from the Guild:

Holiday Party will be Dec. 1 6-10 PM. Tickets = 25$
Food theme is Holiday Comfort Food: Deep fried turkey etc.

They will be raffling a 12.2 gallon conical fermenter, March Pumps, Plate chillers.
There will be 300 raffle tickets @ 10$ each, sold online. The buyer of each ticket gets to decide what charity his/her money will go to. You don't have to be present to win.

Next Guild meeting is November 12th.

Dec 14th is the date for the FOAM Holiday Party at Mike & Patti's.

For the November FOAM meeting, we might have it at Henning's German restaurant. Mike Lamb will look into the possibilty of reserving a room for FOAM, and see if we can hold the FOAM cup there as well.
The FOAM cup for November is Belgian Strong Ale.

WE are planning a FOAM Pub Crawl for November 17th: a DC-Metro based pub crawl: Rockville, Bethesda, then down into DC.

2008 FOAM cup categories are:
February: BJCP category 7: Amber Hybrid Beer (alt, steam)
May: BJCP category 5 Bock
August: BJCP category 16: Belgian and French Ale
November: BJCP category 19: Strong Ale (barleywine, old ale)

Oh, yeah, and we still need to pick a place for October's FOAM Officer's meeting!  [This will be on Oct 16 at Travl'n Dave's house]
