June 2008 Officer's Meeting Minutes

Here is a summary of the FOAM Officer's meeting held at Jim Sawitzke's house on Wednesday, June 11 2008:

Treasury: $2800.49
Membership: 88

-We're planning to buy more FOAM denim shirts.  We will take orders for specific sizes at the Pool Party at Dave Coleman's house on July 12.

AHA 2008 Conference is in Cincinnati June 19-21.

So far there's no plan for a July FOAM meeting at Flying Dog Brewery, but Dave Justice will check with them.

Next year we need to get out more publicity about the brew session at Flying Dog: They supply ingredients!!

Edgar has sent out an email regarding a July 4th party at his house

FOAM Pool Party is at Dave Coleman's house on Saturday July 12, starts at around 1 PM.  This will be in place of the FOAM and the FOAM officer's meeting for July.

For July Happy Hour, we will go to a Frederick Keys Game at Harry Grove Stadium on Thursday July 31.  There will also be a Brewers Alley Tasting event there, but it costs extra & might not be worth it.  Dave Justice will see about getting a block of tickets for us, so we need to get the word out to FOAM members to RSVP to him.

August meeting will probably be at Flying Dog Brewery. The FOAM cup for Belgian/French Ales (BJCP 16) will be held.

November FOAM cup is BJCP Category 19 (Barleywine/Strong Ale)

We need to talk to Sara about FOAMSTOCK in September. There was also talk about people bringing food for breakfast for the morning after.

Newsletter:  we need to find a volunteer to publish our newsletter regularly.

Great Frederick Fair: The categories used at the Fair do not correspond with BJCP guidelines. We need to devise a system whereby the entrants can indicate the  BJCP Style so that the judges can judge it properly.

We should talk to Bob about whether our FOAM meetings will conflict with brewing classes, and if so, look into having our meetings at the fairgrounds.

Next FOAM Officer's meeting:  August 19th at Dave Coleman's house.

That's it 'til next time
-Terry Brann
FOAM Secretary
